The Professional Photo, Film, TV and Personal Styling Course with the British College of Professional Styling was incredibly flexible around my constantly busy work and personal commitments. This allowed me the freedom to tackle the theory and assignments at my own pace in the comfort of my own home. There was no pressure to meet any strict deadlines, which was perfect.
I took the course on simply as a hobby and out of curiosity for the fashion and clothing industry, and the endless exciting creative possibilities it possesses. Now I have completed this course, I can confidently say that this course has built the foundation for my successful and creative career in wardrobe consulting, personal styling or even fashion PR in the future.
The course provided fantastic theory and fun research tasks in addition to creative and diverse assignments. Overall, it was a comprehensive, well-rounded and helpful course, which has subsequently provided me with the specific skills and tools I need to utilise going forward. This course assisted me in establishing which areas I am interested in, as well as setting aside the areas that I don’t wish to focus on fully. The course theory covered a wide variety of styling and fashion avenues. I learned about so many aspects to styling that I was not familiar with prior to the course.
What I enjoyed most about the course was understanding fashions history, important designers throughout our history to present times, the process of colour analysis and understanding the elements that bring a winning outfit together to flatter a client’s body shape.
I found the feedback from my tutor very beneficial. It helped me to see ways to grow, pinpointed my strengths and weaknesses and most importantly, encouraged my confidence in generating a professional portfolio that I am proud of and subsequently able to showcase to the fashion and styling world! I am very excited about my future in fashion.
