I couldn’t have dreamt that the British College of Professional Styling could, in such a short time, help me find the direction I always desired in life. I am now helping women rediscover themselves and through this course, I discovered myself.

About to change my career at 49 years of age, I was very apprehensive when I enrolled in The Professional Photo, Film, TV & Personal Stylist’s Course. Doubts and fears flooded my mind but once I started my studies, it was a pleasurable and artistic journey. Having worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years, I knew fashion was always my passion but hadn’t had the courage to follow my dreams. I can now say that enrolling with The British College of Professional Styling was the best decision I could have made for myself and my career.

The tutorials are presented in an exceptionally professional format, rich with useful information and links to help stimulate creativity. The flexibility of study was also very important to me. I worked at my own pace and never felt pressured when my job, or life, got in the way. The College staff were also ready to support me when I needed it and with always promptly replied.

I opened a fashion boutique with the aim of helping women step out of their comfort zone and created a fashion concept called Fashion for Real Women. I showcased fashion in a realistic way by incorporating women of all ages and all sizes. I organised fashion shows with ‘real models’ (customers/clients) and showcased their transformation after taking my style advice. Last year, our Real Women Models concept was awarded Finalist at the Mendip Retail Business of the Year. To be recognised and awarded was a dream come true.

My retail journey ended last year when I decided to close my boutique as my personal styling service became more demanding. I want to offer my services on a broader spectrum, which is what the British College of Professional Styling has helped me identify.

The College helped me discover my true potential and undiscovered talents. I continue to develop my styling skills daily and have even branched into photography. My latest service is branding photo shoots. Here, I incorporate my newly taught skills to style clients and photograph them.

My business model has now changed and I will be focused on personal styling through my Real Women Fashion Shows. I have been involved in several Real Women catwalks, which involves organising the styling of models, catwalk sequencing and music, arranging venues and advertising on social media from start to finish.

I couldn’t have dreamt that the British College of Professional Styling could, in such a short time, help me find the direction I always desired in life. I am now helping women rediscover themselves and through this course, I discovered myself.

Thank you for all your support and for believing in me.
