What a wonderful and inspiring course! It is something that I will use going forward in my career as a stylist.
I decided to take The Professional Photo, Film, TV & Personal Stylist’s Course as I have always had an interest in clothes and fashion. I secretly wanted to be a model growing up and I felt that training to be a stylist would satisfy my love of clothes. Plus I love helping other people to look and feel their best!
What I enjoyed most about the course was learning about colours and conducting colour analysis which helps a great deal with wardrobe culling. This is guiding me to focus on the image consultancy/personal shopping side of styling.
The assignments were great. Like most courses, they got harder as you progressed – which is a good thing. They also flowed well in terms of what you are being asked to do. My tutor’s feedback was very useful and encouraging. Some of the tips she provided prompted me to set up my business.
Family and friends also supported me whilst I was completing the course. With their help, I have set up my own stylist company, CaiStyle. It is early days, but I’m very excited about it. At the moment, I am still finding my feet and giving out free style advice. To me, this is all good experience for when the real work begins!
Since completing the course, I have assisted a photographer with styling for photo shoots for a top London law firm’s website and editorial. In completing this course, I learned that I am very determined and even through difficult times, I can push through to achieve a goal.
