Having a great passion for fashion, styling and image making, I decided to complete a relevant course in order to get into the fashion industry. After extensive online research, I decided to register with the British College of Professional Styling.
At the time, I had a full time managerial position at an international HR firm. I was excited to get started with The Professional Photo, Film, TV and Personal Stylist’s Course as it offered the flexibility I needed to get in depth knowledge at times that suited me. I also had the opportunity to gain theoretical knowledge based on the College’s tutorials, at the same time as putting this into practise with each course assignment.
I had my own tutor to who provided feedback on my assignments and provided support if I ever needed it. Soon after starting my course, I started feeling like a member of the British College of Professional Styling family. I was studying distantly but at the same time, I felt close to the College.
After completing The Professional Photo, Film, TV and Personal Stylist’s Course, I felt that I had all the necessary knowledge and tools to take it to the next level and start career in the fashion industry. An option of the final course assignment required setting up a blog at one of the proposed platforms. I was inspired by this and created my very own fashion blog, Vicky’s Style – it’s a platform where I share my passion for fashion and put into practise my new industry knowledge.
My blog has been developed and I’ve gotten quite active in the fashion industry – so much so that I left my full time job. Now my main occupation is my fashion/lifestyle site, Vicky’s Style. I have built a strong social media presence where I share styling tips. I am also invited to various fashion/beauty/lifestyle events that take place in Athens, Greece; with a number of brands reaching out to me. I’ve even had the opportunity to work on a few international projects.
As a stylist, I’ve had the opportunity to present outfits and styling tips on a TV show, organised some public workshops, and worked as a volunteer at a project for Make-A-Wish Greece with some beauty products. Recently I’ve started a weekly joined Instalive (also shared at YouTube, my site and all other social media) with a well-known Greek YouTuber. Last but not least, I am in the process of starting a new collaboration with a TV show as fashion stylist columnist.
I feel grateful for having the opportunity to work with the British College of Professional Styling and I would recommend the course to all the candidates who wish to pursue a career in the fashion industry.
