I enrolled in The Professional Photo, Film, TV and Personal Stylist’s Course to find a new direction for my professional life. I am very creative, so I thought this would be a perfect match.
I loved the fact that the course was self-paced, over a two year period. This allowed me to organise myself and progress at my own pace. Being self-employed, I wasn’t able to commit to a regular study time. I took longer than I anticipated, but my success after graduating has seen the hard yards pay off.
I love working with colours and enjoyed conducting the course’s colour analysis on my friends and family while I was studying. It inspired me so much that I knew this would be my focus as a fashion stylist.
I started modelling and entering pageants. I found I could show my versatility and creativity in styling, and this lead to a lot of success. I won a number of awards including Best Fashionwear, Best Eveningwear, Best Swimwear and Best Eco Outfit. Also I won the prestigious title, Miss High Fashion Queen. These awards were amazing to receive and I credit it to my skills as a stylist, as my choice of outfits and colours worked to make me outstanding on the catwalk. I’ve now collected 10 crowns since starting out.
My name was put forward by an established designer as a nomination for an award at the Liverpool Fashion Awards. The competition was tough as it was open to the whole UK. I was so happy for the nomination itself, but when I won, I was elated. I was awarded Best Fashion Stylist in the UK in June 2017.
I now have my own webpage: dressupinstyle.co.uk. I have also hosted charity styling days, which were very successful. The models liked it so much, that they even bought the outfits. Now, not only do I take part in pageants and modelling, I’m also assisting the girls with their styles and makeup.
Completing The Professional Photo, Film, TV & Personal Stylist’s Course with the British College of Professional styling has changed my life and reinforced my confidence. My work has even been published in our local magazine and appeared on Channel 5!
I hope that my experiences will inspire others to take part in the course.
